Wetpour Repair

Wetpour Repair

A Wetpour Repair playground is a great surface for children to play on, providing a soft landing if they fall and giving them a lot less bruises than they would get if they fell on concrete. However, a wetpour surface can become damaged and needs to be repaired as quickly as possible. It’s important that you carry out regular inspections to spot any problems with the wetpour so they can be fixed straight away.

When wetpour is unable to drain properly this can cause major damage to the surface. This is because the water can seep into the wetpour and break it apart. If this is left unattended the problem can grow and become extremely costly to repair.

Choosing the Right Materials for Effective Wetpour Repairs

Another reason for wetpour repair is if the rubber starts to shrink around the edges of the surface. This can be caused by changing weather conditions, particularly the hot and cold cycles. This can lead to gaps and crevasses which are dangerous for children to walk on and a trip hazard. We can carry out wetpour repairs to fix this by creating a chase or channel cut through the safety surfacing and removing the existing rubber, priming and filling the gap with new wearing course that is graded back into the original edge. We typically do this in a different colour to create a brighter-looking design for the playground.

We also supply DIY repair kits for wetpour and rubber crumb which can be used to carry out small localised repairs. The kit includes the right ratio of rubber granules and polyurethane binder to enable you to carry out small repairs yourself on site.
